I Believe…

Ok, this must be a week of cheap plugs because I’m here to tell you to go out and buy Rhett Miller’s new cd… ok, it doesn’t compare to the greatness of Old 97s but it has some great songs that will definitely bring a smile to your face (i.e. Singular Girl, though without the teeth of the hydra). And Rhett’s bulletin posts are just greatness.

"Oops! I dropped my record."

Being the MySpace Featured Artist is an eye-opening experience. Dude, this thing works! Like I said in the first blog I posted, MySpace is the ultimate realization of the "global village" Marshall McLuhan predicted a half-century ago. It’s staggering - the fact that when I hit "Post" on this missive it will immediately fly to the inboxes of 10,000 people. I like it. It’s like some form of communism. Perhaps communalism is a better word. We’re like 10,000 dirty hippies growing our own vegetables and singing songs around a campfire. [P.S. for the record, I love dirty hippies and have been one before myself.]

Now go out and buy 7 copies of The Believer. Tune in Thursday, March 2nd to The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. And check the tour dates to see when I’ll be dragging The Believers to a town near you. If you come, I promise to shake my ass. That’s my business and business is good.

"Your iPod is hungry!"

Apparently I’m like number 12 on iTunes right now and my record label folk (who are in fact quite nice) are fuh-reaking out. They’ve asked me to enlist the help of my army of MySpace friends. Please tell anyone you know to swing by the iTunes store on their way home from work and pick up The Believer. Apparently you get a bonus track - FOR FREE! I’ve included what my friend from the new media dep’t calls a "deep link" [vaguely erotic, no?]. I tried to turn it into a tidy little blue one-word link, sadly to no avail. See you tomorrow night. In your living room. On the tube.

Upcoming Dallas Dates 4.1.2006 & 4.2.2006 Wooh-hoo!! Sons Of Herman here I come!

Ok. I promise one of these days to write a real blog and entertain you with my funny, funny stories… or at least vaguely amusing…
